Tuyen Quang (VNA) - Nestled in the northernmost area of Vietnam, Lo Lo Chai, which has recently been recognised as one of the Best Tourism Villages, has become a bustling destination for travellers seeking authentic indigenous experiences.

To preserve the village’s pristine beauty while ensuring a safe tourism environment, authorities in Lung Cu commune of Tuyen Quang province have implemented a synchronised series of measures. From establishing a dedicated management team to deploying interdisciplinary forces to guide local residents in standardising services, these efforts are raising service quality and protecting the unique identity of the province.

Ma Doan Khanh, Vice Chairman of the Lung Cu Commune People's Committee, said that the commune has issued a decision to establish a management team for the construction, conservation, and development of the tourism village in the 2025–2030 period.

The 19-member team comprises local policemen, Lung Cu border guards, market management officials, and health workers. Their mandate is clear: supervise construction, monitor business operations, and guide residents in sustainable community tourism practices.

Immediately following its establishment, the committee required all homestays, restaurants, and service providers to meet strict operational standards. These include food safety and hygiene certification, fire prevention and control compliance, environmental sanitation, clear signs and business registration, and transparent price listing commitments.

Deadlines for compliance were publicly announced in every hamlet to ensure compliance was measured and equal across the sector.

Rather than simply penalising non-compliance, the management team has taken a supportive approach. Officials frequently visit Lo Lo Chai to help households organise legal paperwork, renovate facilities, and rearrange processing areas and emergency exits to meet safety standards.

Local business owners have welcomed the move. Vang Thi Xuyen, owner of Hien Xuyen Homestay, noted that her facility welcomes hundreds of guests monthly. "Through the team's guidance, we reviewed our entire processing procedures, kitchen zone, and food storage. Operating strictly according to regulations gives customers peace of mind, and it makes our business more professional," she said.Similarly, Tran Xuan Hanh, owner of Pasu Homestay, shared that the inspection was thorough, but the support was dedicated. "We have since updated our residence records, posted prices publicly, and upgraded our restrooms. Guests have highly appreciated these improvements."

Khanh emphasised that the ultimate goal is to build Lo Lo Chai into a model tourism village that is friendly, professional, and civilised.

Beyond service quality, the commune prioritises the preservation of the Lo Lo ethnic minority's cultural identity. Strict guidelines are in place to protect traditional “trinh tuong” (earthen-wall) architecture, traditional costumes, handicrafts, and folk arts. Households continue to maintain cultural experiences for visitors, such as bronze drum performances and observing daily local life.

By preventing price gouging and soliciting while ensuring a fair business environment, Tuyen Quang province is ensuring that the country’s northernmost point remains a safe, attractive, and culturally rich destination for domestic and international tourists./.
