A children’s forum took place in central Thanh Hoa province on July 19with the hope to better the implementation of children rights,especially children engagement right.
At the forum,local children expressed their wishes through paintings, musicperformances and plays such as protection against abuse, playgrounds andentertainment parks for children, and free health treatment for poorchildren.
Provincial leaders listened to and answered the children’s questions on issues of their concern.
The ideas presented at the forum were expected to help policy makersin devising policies better meeting children’s needs. They alsocontribute to raising awareness of authorities, community, families, andchildren themselves about children’s rights.
Theforum was organised by the provincial Department of Labour, War Invalidsand Social Affairs in partnership with the World Vision country tocollect children’s feedback to the Law on Child Protection, Care andEducation.
Vietnam is working to revise this law, which has revealed a number of shortcomings after eight years of implementation.-VNA
