France’s manufacturers of textile equipment pay much attention to the Vietnamese market and want to team up with Vietnamese partners for their common interest.

Evelyne Cholet, General Secretary of the French Textile Machinery Manufacturers Association (UCMTF), revealed the good news for Vietnamese textile enterprises at a symposium in Ho Chi Minh City on April 3, discussing new technologies for the industry.

Cholet further said that, with advanced technologies and quality products, French companies operating in the field will become reliable partners and be ready to help local firms make full use of the advantages which globalisation has brought.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Ho Thi Kim Thoa said Vietnam , one of the world’s top five garment and textile exporters, has seen fast-growing development in the industry thanks to its efforts to integrate into the global market.

The Government has paid importance on creating favourable conditions for local textile enterprises to expand their markets as well as implementing measures to improve weaving and sewing techniques, added Thoa.

The Vietnam-France business community needs to enhance the sharing of experience and technology transfer, in order to increase the added value of the industry and further promote two-way trade as well, she suggested.

The industry has witnessed annual average growth of 10-15 percent over the past decade, contributing around 10 percent to the country’s GDP growth. As for the first quarter of this year, garment and textile exports raked in over 4.54 billion USD, a year-on-year hike of 12 percent.-VNA
