Hanoi (VNA) - The Funeral Board and the family of formerPresident General Le Duc Anh expressed thanks following the burial service for himin Ho Chi Minh City on May 3.

The following is the message in full:

“The Central Committee of the Communist Party ofVietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, thePresident of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the SocialistRepublic of Vietnam, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, theFuneral Board, and the family of General Le Duc Anh wish to express sincerethanks to:

- Compatriots, comrades;
- Revolutionary veterans;
- Intelligentsia, religious dignitaries;
- Agencies, organisations, localities, units;
- The people’s armed forces;
- The Party organisations, administrations, andpeople of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Thua Thien-Hue province;
- Diplomatic corps, representatives ofinternational organsations, and international friends;

For sending condolence messages and wreaths, aswell as attending the respect-paying ceremonies, memorial service, and burialceremony of General Le Duc Anh, former member of the Political Bureau of theCentral Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, former President of theSocialist Republic of Vietnam, and former advisor to the Central Committee ofthe Communist Party of Vietnam.”

General Le Duc Anh, who served as President of Vietnam fromSeptember 1992 to December 1997, passed away on April 22, 2019 at the age of99.

Dien thanked her and the Parliament of Tanzania for hosting IPU-153 and acknowledging her contributions during her tenure as IPU President.
