Ha Tinh (VNA) - National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man held a working session with the standing board of the Ha Tinh provincial Party Committee to review its 2024 performance and the implementation of National Assembly resolutions, as well as chart a course for 2025.

Chairman Man praised the provincial Party Organisation, authorities, and residents for their outstanding efforts, which resulted in a gross regional domestic product growth of 7.48% this year. The province collected 9.6 trillion VND (377.12 million USD) in domestic revenue, contributing to a local budget revenue of 17.9 trillion VND.

Public investment disbursement surpassed expectations, reaching 6.6 trillion VND, or 117% of the plan. Additionally, revenue from tourism and services topped 8.5 trillion VND, marking a 12% annual increase. Leading the nation in new-style rural development, Ha Tinh reduced its poverty rate to 2.41%.

He announced that at the NA’s recent 8th session, the legislature had approved an investment policy for the North-South hi-speed railway project, a reduction in value-added tax, and the allocation of 5% savings from the central and local regular expenditures to support the elimination of temporary and depilated housing for poor and near-poor households. The disbursement period for national target programmes has also been extended.

The top legislator expressed his confidence that these strategic policies would provide Ha Tinh with more opportunities to optimise resources, navigate challenges, and achieve a double-digit growth in 2025.

Basically agreeing with the key directions and tasks identified by Ha Tinh for the remaining year of the current term, Man urged the province to seriously follow the Resolution of the 19th provincial Party Congress in preparation for the Party congresses at all levels and the 20th provincial Party Congress.

The province was urged to effectively follow its master plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, build Vung Ang into a a multifunctional economic zone, and develop the Cau Treo international border economic zone.

He suggested the province leverage its strengths in seaports, marine economy, and mineral resources, while expediting the progress of key projects, such as the North-South expressway section through Ha Tinh and industrial park infrastructure.

Ha Tinh should ramp up environmental pollution control, effectively tackle waste and wastewater issues in industrial zones and urban areas, proactively prevent and respond to natural disasters and climate change, he said, adding that focus should be also on three national target programmes, education, health care, active protection of border and territorial sovereignty, and maintenance of political security, social safety and order, particularly in critical areas./.
