Hanoi (VNA) – The northern province of Hai Duong is working towards its goal of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses by June 2025.
To achieve this, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels in Hai Duong have collaborated with local authorities and organisations to mobilise financial support, labour, and construction materials for the programme.
So far, all households eligible for assistance, including revolution contributors, relatives of martyrs in need, and poor and near-poor families, have their homes either newly built or repaired.
According to Nguyen Van Cong, Vice Chairman of the Cam Giang district People's Committee, 96 households in the locality have received housing support. The district has actively coordinated with local organisations to accelerate the programme, with all planned new and renovated homes already under construction. Of these, 30 houses have been completed and handed over.
On February 20, the provincial People’s Council passed a resolution on housing support for revolution contributors, fallen soldiers' relatives, and poor families with a budget of 100 million VND (3,900 USD) per new house and 50 million VND per renovation.
Funding comes from the central and provincial budgets, as well as social contributions through the "gratitude fund" and "fund for the poor”.
Across the province, 1,453 houses are eligible for assistance, including 676 in need of new construction and 777 requiring renovations./.
