Dong Nai (VNA) – Authorities in the southern province of Dong Nai have launched a campaign to eradicate temporary and dilapidated houses, aiming to ensure that by April 30, 2025, no poor, near-poor, or policy beneficiary households live in substandard conditions.
The recent launch event, jointly organised by the provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Dong Nai, marked the beginning of a province-wide effort to mobilise resources for housing support.
Chairman of the People’s Committee Vo Tan Duc reaffirmed the province’s commitment to social welfare, particularly in improving living conditions for disadvantaged households. He urged local authorities to prioritise and effectively implement the housing campaign, calling it a key political task that requires broad societal engagement.
He also called on organisations, businesses, and philanthropists to contribute, maximising resources to ensure the initiative’s success.
Since 2021, Dong Nai has built and renovated nearly 1,100 homes under social housing initiatives, including nearly 900 newly constructed units. In response to the Prime Minister’s nationwide programme to eliminate temporary houses, the province aims to build or repair 265 homes for revolution contributors, martyrs’ relatives, and disadvantaged households by the end of April.
At the event, several organisations, businesses, and individuals pledged financial support, with total contributions reaching nearly 70 billion VND (approximately 2.8 million USD).
Among them, Dong Nai-based KN Holdings contributed 55 billion VND to help the province meet its housing target./.
