Hai Phong (VNA) – Voters in the northern port city of Hai Phong expressed their concern about problems facing the national economy, particularly the negative impacts by the world economy, during their meeting with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and the delegation of National Assembly deputies of Hai Phong on May 10.

The voters also complained about the slow pace in changing the growth model and the big dependence on agriculture and the State-owned sector.

Many voters took the occasion of the meeting to voice their opinions about the administrative reform and the building of an effective State apparatus. They urged the National Assembly and the Government to instruct ministries, agencies and local administrations to take stronger and synchronous measures for the sustainable and faster development of agriculture and rural areas.

Taking note of the voters’ petitions and wishes, PM Phuc said the opinions reflect the voters’ sense of responsibility for working together with the administration for national development.

He appreciated Hai Phong’s high economic growth in 2018, estimated at 16.25 percent, which is the highest rate ever and more than 2.4 times the national average, adding that many large-scale projects are being implemented in the city, proving that it is attractive to investors.

The PM asked Hai Phong to invest more in infrastructure in Kien Thuy district to facilitate local growth, while suggesting the district to improve local labourers’ skills and productivity. He also required the locality to use land more effectively and pay attention to tourism services to make the best use of local advantages.

PM Phuc reported that the fight against corruption has been intensified under the leadership of the Party General Secretary and President Nguyen Phuc Trong, thus winning trust of the people.

The Government leader, along with other NA deputies, is holding meetings with voters to report on the planned working agenda of the 7th session of the 14th National Assembly and listen to voters’ opinions on issues of their concern.-VNA
