Hanoi and Beijing youth bolster ties

The Hanoi chapter of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Chinese Communist Youth League (CCYL) Beijing Committee have discussed ways to promote cultural and communist youth cadre exchanges, conduct joint youth-related research and establish effective bilateral cooperative mechanisms for the 2011-2014 period.

The discussion was held following talks between Vice Secretary of theHanoi chapter of the HCMCYU Nguyen Thi Nga and Deputy Secretary of theCCYL Beijing Committee Yang Lixian, in Hanoi on March 28.

TheCCYL Beijing Committee proposed to coordinate with the Hanoi chapter tofacilitate youth creativity and youth-run businesses.

The Hanoichapter invited the CCYL Beijing Committee to become involved in thefriendship meeting between Hanoi and Beijing youths slated for Novemberthis year and the 14th Congress of the HCMCYU Hanoi chapter in Octoberthis year.

At the talks, the two sides informed each other about their organisational apparatus and shared experiences in youth activities.

Hanoiintroduced its model of voluntary youths in traffic management andenvironmental protection with 1,000 voluntary students keeping watch attraffic intersections during rush hour and a team of volunteers settingout to eradicate illegal advertisements at hotspots in Hanoi onSaturdays.

The Beijing Committee gave a detailed description ofthe legitimate rights and privileges of the city’s youth, especiallyeducational and developmental rights.

The Beijing Committee said it has established a council to prevent crimes among youth and help youths who had committed crimes.

Italso opened a hotline with more than 1,200 psychologists, legal expertsand professional students, to consult and detect pressing youthissues.-VNA
