Hanoi promotes communication activities on ASEAN for 2021 - 2025

The Hanoi People's Committee has issued a plan on promoting information and communication activities on ASEAN in the 2021-2025 period, with a vision to 2030, aiming to effectively implement the Government's action plan in this work.

Hanoi (VNA) - The Hanoi People's Committee has issued a plan on promoting information and communication activities on ASEAN in the 2021-2025 period, with a vision to 2030, aiming to effectively implement the Government's action plan in this work.

The plan is also to raise awareness of agencies, organisations and people about the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) in line with the scheme on developing and implementing a plan to realise the ASCC's goals to 2025.

Communications will focus on issues related to important political-diplomatic activities, investment and business, free trade agreements in the ASEAN region, development of human resources, labour - employment, digital economy, digital transformation, education, environmental protection, sustainable development, sub-regional cooperation, collaboration in response to COVID-19 and promote post-pandemic recovery within ASEAN, and between Hanoi and regional countries.

Information on common policies and agreements of ASEAN in the all three pillars of the ASEAN Community, practical stories, models and typical characters about substantive benefits that the ASEAN Community bring to Vietnam and its business community as well as Hanoi people, and Vietnam's participation in the all three pillars of the ASEAN Community will be also promoted.

The plan will also spotlight the importance of ASEAN for Vietnam, as well as the position, role, contribution and imprint of Hanoi and Vietnam in the process of  participation in ASEAN, especially in building a cohesive and adaptive ASEAN Community, which takes a leading role in regional affairs.

In particular, it will introduce business opportunities, investment project, tourism potential and culture of Vietnam and Hanoi to other ASEAN member nations and the group’s partner countries.

The communication plan will be carried out via culture and sports exchange, fairs, exhibitions, contests on ASEAN, conferences, workshops, training programmes, on mass media, and portals and websites, among others./.

The two gold medallists are Tran Trung Kien, a 12th grader from the Hanoi-Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, who scored 169.25 points, and Nguyen Ngo Duc, a 12th grader from the Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted in Nghe An province, who scored 151.05 points.

Vietnam among countries with high human development: UNDP report

According to the report, which evaluates human development progress based on the Human Development Index (HDI), tracking achievements in health, education and income, Vietnam’s HDI in 2023 reached 0.766, ranking 93rd out of 193 countries and territories. This marked a substantial leap from 0.499 in 1990, representing a 53.5% increase, a notable trajectory of growth over more than three decades.

Local officials are required to strengthen on-the-ground inspections and take prompt action to address any signs of stagnation or lack of accountability in executing the campaign. Xuyen Viet Oil case: Appellate verdict announced, with six receiving reduced sentences

Specifically, the trial panel sentenced the mastermind of the case, Mai Thi Hong Hanh, ex-Director and Chairwoman of the Board of Members of Xuyen Viet Oil, to 11 years in prison for the crime of “giving bribes” and 17 years for “violating regulations on the management and use of State assets, causing loss and wastefulness.” The combined sentence is 28 years in prison, 2 years less than the first-instance verdict.

Khanh Hoa tightens control of fishing vessels at sea ports

As many as 99.7% of Khanh Hoa's fishing vessels over 15 metres in length – 631 out of 633 – have now been equipped with VMS devices. Furthermore, the electronic catch documentation and traceability (eCDT) system is being effectively implemented across the Hon Ro, Vinh Luong, Da Bac, and Dai Lanh ports, significantly enhancing transparency and traceability in the seafood supply chain.
