Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam OCOP Festival 2025 will be held at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel in Hanoi from December 20 to 23, celebrating the values and achievements of the one commune one product (OCOP) programme after more than seven years of nationwide implementation.

The event will be jointly organised by the Central New Rural Development Coordination Office and the Hanoi New Rural Development Coordination Office under the municipal Department of Agriculture and Environment.

The festival is seen a practical activity celebrating the achievements made by the capital and the country in 2025, affirming OCOP’s role in rural economic development, contributing to realising Vietnam’s aspiration for strong economic growth in the context of deep integration.

It aims to recognise and honour OCOP achievements linked to digital and green transformation, guide the future development of OCOP items, and promote outstanding products and producers. It also seeks to foster pride, highlight Vietnamese cultural values, and support rural entrepreneurship and economic development.

The event is expected to strengthen production and trade connections for OCOP products nationally and internationally, promote value chain linkages, enhance the competitiveness of Vietnamese products, form a space for innovation, promote experience-sharing, and encourage innovation in products and packaging.

Initiated by the Prime Minister in 2019, the OCOP programme has demonstrated its strategic vision by transforming abundant resources and diligent and creative labour into sustainable competitive advantages. As many as 18,243 OCOP products have so far been rated three stars or higher, establishing a quality standardisation system that has reinforced and affirmed Vietnam’s national brand. It has contributed to shifting production from small-scale to value chain-linked approaches.

Statistics show that 60.7% of 3-star-plus OCOP entities report average annual revenue growth of 17.6%, creating a "multi-value" rural economic ecosystem. The programme also opens up sustainable livelihood development orientation, attracting 40% of producers who are women and 19.6% who are ethnic minorities. Many OCOP products have been exported to more than 60 countries worldwide, affirming the position of Vietnamese farm produce in the international market.

The Vietnam OCOP Festival 2025 will also offer a chance to honour the leadership role of Hanoi, the most successful locality in implementing the programme, with 3,463 products recognised with three stars or higher.

During the festival, a range of activities will be arranged, including the opening ceremony and a special art programme; a ceremony to honour exemplary national OCOP entities; forums on improving quality and developing OCOP products; an exhibition showcasing regional OCOP products and 5-star products, handicrafts and specialty cuisine; a Vietnam OCOP livestream day; along with various cultural activities and traditional craft exchanges./.
