HCM City expects stronger relations with Guangdong province

HCM City (VNA) –Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Le Thanh Liem receivedVice Governor of China’s Guangdong province Ouyang Weimin on August 28, voicinghis hope for stronger ties.

Liem said HCM City treasures cooperation withChinese localities, including Guangdong province. 

Over the years, it has regularly sentrepresentatives to meetings reviewing Vietnam-Guangdong cooperation, he said, addingthat HCM City and Guangdong have also boosted delegation exchange and tradepromotion activities.

He said the Guangdong delegation’s visit showsthe province’s desire to enhance relations with the southern economic hub ofVietnam.

HCM City hopes the two sides will strengthencooperation fields of mutual concern and strength such as tourism, trade, humanresources and business-to-business partnership, the Vice Chairman added.

For his part, the Chinese official said hisdelegation’s visit to HCM City aims to reinforce bilateral relations.

He spoke highly of the city’s developmentpotential and pledged to encourage Guangdong businesses to study more about andinvest in HCM City.

Briefing his host about the ongoing GuangdongImport and Export Fair in Hanoi, the Vice Governor hoped a similar event wouldbe organised in HCM City.

Guangdong also wants to cooperate with HCM Cityin culture, people-to-people exchange and, especially, tourism, which are areasboth sides hold potential and strength in, he noted.-VNA
