Vientiane (VNA) – Ho Chi Minh City always treasures the twining relations with Vientiane, as well as the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos as a whole, an official of the city said.
Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee and Chairwoman of the municipal People’s Council Nguyen Thi Le made the statement while meeting with Chairwoman of the Lao National Assembly Pany Yathotou and Governor of Vientiane capital Sinlavong Khutphaythoun in Vientiane on July 25. She is leading a delegation from the city’s People’s Council to visit the neighbouring country from July 24-28.
At the event, Le said the visit aims to affirm Ho Chi Minh City’s efforts and goodwill to intensify the special solidarity and comprehensive collaboration between Vietnam and Laos.
The Lao hosts, for their parts, spoke highly of the delegation’s visit, describing it as a good illustration of the robust relations between the two nations, and Ho Chi Minh City and Vientiane.
They took the occasion to thank Ho Chi Minh City’s leaders for sharing valuable experience with Lao counterparts, help the people’s councils of Lao localities promote their role and receive confidence from local residents.
They wished the People’s Council of Ho Chi Minh City will continue support and close cooperation with the People’s Council of Vientiane in the fields of management and implementation of policies on land and real estate, increasing state budget revenue.
The same day, Le held talks with her Vientiane counterpart Anuphap Tounalom, during which the latter lauded the cooperative achievements between the two sides, and thanked the Vietnamese Party, Government and people as well as the Ho Chi Minh City authorities for giving support to Vientiane in the past time.
He suggested both councils enhance collaboration, particularly in organising conferences to share experience and develop human resources, and continue discussion to sign a Memorandum of Understanding soon.
Le said Ho Chi Minh City will do its utmost to develop the cooperative ties with Vientiane in a deeper and more effective manner, contributing to elevating the Vietnam-Laos relations to a new high amidst unpredictable developments of the regional and global situations.
During their stay, the delegation had a working session with the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos, laid wreath at memorial monument of unknown martyrs, visited and presented gifts to children at Vientiane-Ho Chi Minh City friendship school, and had a working session with Champasak province.-VNA
