Vietnam and Cuba need to further step up cooperation in economy, trade, investment, culture, education, healthcare, science, technology and tourism to catch up with their fine political relations.
Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Le Hoang Quan gave the suggestion at a reception for the visiting Cuban Minister of Culture, Abel Enrique Prieto Jimenez, on October 23.
The mayor noted with pleasure that Cuba have reaped achievements in economic restructuring and national development despite a wide range of difficulties.
Quan said he believed under the leadership of the Communist Party of Cuba, leader Fidel Castro and President Raul Castro, the fraternal Cuban people would recorded more successes in the process of national defence and construction.
He said HCM City wants to promote its cooperation, especially in the fields of culture, science and tourism, with Cuban localities.
Prieto Jimenez affirmed the Cuban people’s deep sentiments towards their Vietnamese counterparts and expressed his admiration for the rapid development of Vietnam and the city in particular.
The minister said he hoped that cooperative relations between Cuba and Vietnam , including cultural cooperation, would further develop in the future./.
