HCM City (VNA) – Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Le Thanh Liem hosted a reception on October 18 for Max Vincent, Vice President of France’s Lyon, during which they signed a cooperation agreement for 2018-2020 between the two sides.

Speaking at the event, Liem stressed that in the context that Vietnam and France are celebrating the 45th anniversary of their diplomatic ties and the five-year Strategic Partnership, the working visit by the Lyon delegation was of significance, contributing to tightening relations between Ho Chi Minh City and Lyon as well as between Vietnam and France at large.

He thanked the region for supporting the repair, protection and conservation of several social and cultural establishments in the city, such as Ho Chi Minh Museum, the People’s Committee headquarters, Municipal Theatre and Post Office.

He said that the signing of the cooperation agreement created a new cooperation framework that helps boost bilateral relations between the two sides and deepen the Vietnam-France strategic partnership.

Vincent stated that the time-honoured relationship between France and Vietnam is the foundation and motivation to foster ties between their localities.

Lyon pledges to maintain agreements with Ho Chi Minh City, especially in management training, urban administration, sustainable development, waste treatment, urban lightning, and smart city building, he affirmed.

He also vowed to provide technical assistance for lightning projects in the city’s symbolic facilitates, while hoping that the city will step up economic collaboration with Lyon. - VNA
