HCMCity (VNA) – Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s CommitteeNguyen Thanh Phong hosted a reception on July 14 for Carlos Salinas de Gortari,who was Mexican President from 1988 to 1994.

Phongexpressed his delight at fine developments in the Vietnam-Mexico relations,affirming that Ho Chi Minh City wants to boost cooperation, especially ineconomics, trade, investment and education, with Mexican localities.

Heasked the former President to continue taking action to intensify collaborationbetween Mexico and Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City.

Thecity hopes to share experience with Mexican city to deal with issues related tourban management and development, he added.

Theguest said he believes that the relations between Mexico and Vietnam willdevelop sustainably, especially in the sharing of experience in monitoring theeconomy and maintaining social stability.

MexicoCity and Ho Chi Minh City have a lot of similarities and hold cooperationpotential in tackling challenges involved in urban development, urban waste andtraffic jams, he stated.-VNA
