Ninh Binh (VNA) – As part of the Homeland Spring 2026 programme, the People’s Committee of Ninh Binh, in coordination with the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, organised a meeting to connect overseas Vietnamese with the northern province on February 7.
The overseas Vietnamese delegation comprised 100 representatives from 32 countries and territories worldwide. They are outstanding individuals in various fields such as politics, economics, culture, and science and technology.
At the event, representatives of local agencies and businesses shared information to help overseas Vietnamese delegates explore Ninh Binh’s potential and opportunities for investment, business and cooperation, thereby contributing to the province’s socio-economic development and the country’s overall growth.
Addressing the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Ninh Binh provincial People’s Committee Dang Thanh Son said that fully aware of the important role played by overseas Vietnamese in national and local development, the provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee have issued and implemented many practical policies with the aim of strengthening connectivity with overseas Vietnamese and effectively mobilise their resources for the province’s socio-economic development.
Ninh Binh currently has more than 13,000 people living, studying and working in over 50 countries and territories. They have consistently complied with host-country laws, preserved Vietnamese cultural identity and maintained strong bonds with the homeland. Overseas Vietnamese from the province have actively participated in humanitarian and charitable activities, as well as in developing new-style rural areas, schools and kindergartens, helping introduce a friendly, compassionate and culturally rich Ninh Binh to the world.
To further enhance external relations in general and overseas Vietnamese affairs in particular, Ninh Binh recently established a Department of External Affairs. The move is expected to ensure unified management of foreign affairs, expand international cooperation and create more favourable conditions for overseas Vietnamese to remain closely connected with and contribute to the province’s development in the new period, Son noted.
Nguyen Trung Kien, Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, noted that the overseas Vietnamese now numbers nearly 6.5 million in 130 countries and territories, with around 80% residing in developed nations. This is a significant resource, especially in terms of knowledge and economic capacity, which has been substantially contributing to national development and safeguarding, particularly as Vietnam enters a new stage of development following the 14th National Party Congress./.
