Hung Yen (VNA) – Leaders of the northern province of Hung Yen have urged relevant agencies and localities to accelerate land clearance for the Khoai Chau urban, eco-tourism and golf complex project, aiming to complete the work by the end of April.

The request was made by Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Hung Nam at a meeting on March 11 to review the progress of land clearance for the project.

According to the provincial People’s Committee, the project has a total investment of more than 1.5 billion USD. It includes a VIP 54-hole golf course, a resort complex, high-end villas, a modern urban area and international-standard facilities and services. In the first phase alone, the area requiring land acquisition and site clearance covers 562.49 hectares.

The project is part of a strategic cooperation between the Trump Organization and the Hung Yen Company, a member of the Kinh Bac City Development Holding Corporation. It will be the first project in Vietnam to carry the Trump brand and is expected to become one of the most iconic destinations in the Red River Delta and across the country. The high-profile project is expected to boost economic growth and facilitate economic restructuring in Hung Yen province and the country.

According to Nguyen Duc Canh, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment, the department has paid special attention to the project's land clearance work, and sent officials to communes where the project is implemented to promptly address obstacles arising during the process, thus ensuring the planned schedule.

So far, local authorities have issued land acquisition notices covering 508.38 hectares. Surveys, measurements and inventories have been conducted for 501.5 hectares. Compensation, support and resettlement plans have been prepared and publicly announced for consultation with residents for 438.1 hectares. Compensation, support, and resettlement plans have been approved for 199 hectares, accounting for 35.4% of the total area, while compensation has been paid for 83.2 hectares, equivalent to 14.8%.

Besides, the provincial People’s Committee issued a document that clearly states that chairpersons of commune-level people’s committees where the project is implemented are responsible for overseeing the land clearance work. Authorities have also been instructed to strictly handle any acts of profiteering if detected./.
