Hanoi (VNA) – The Indonesian government held a high-level meeting with its Chinese counterpart on June 6 to discuss an agenda of cooperation in the fields of priority projects, trade, economy and investment, according to Indonesia’s national news agency Antara.

In a written statement, Indonesian Minister of State Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir said that the countries’ strategic development projects are carried out not only in Java but also eastern Indonesia, notably through the construction of a fishery port in Ambon, as part of efforts to make the national fishery estate programme a success.

The projects will involve state-owned companies to foster development in a number of regions in Indonesia.

The cooperation is carried on an equitable basis with due attention to strategic national interests, he said, adding that it is based on similarity and equitability between the two partner countries.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Panjaitan said the meeting was held in the framework of a high-level dialogue on cooperation mechanism (HDCM).

The agenda of the meeting was a manifestation of the two countries' commitment to forge cooperation in responding to global challenges, he said.

The two countries agreed to establish mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of state-owned firms, finance, investment, health and maritime affairs./.
