Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesia is on track in terms of preparing facilities to host the 18th Asian Games (ASIAD 2018), according to Indonesian Public Works and Public Housing Minister Basuki Hadimuljono.
Of 14 sports venues renovated for ASIAD 2018 at the Bung Karno sports stadium complex in Senayan area, South Jakarta, and Palembang, seven were inaugurated. The rest are waiting for inauguration next month.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo attended the inauguration of the indoor and outdoor tennis courts in Senayan on February 3.
He had already inspected and witnessed the inauguration of baseball fields, A/B/C football fields, archery field, swimming pool, the Bung Karno main stadiums, and Istora indoor stadium.
The renovated venues awaiting inauguration are a basket field, softball field, baseball field, rugby field, and training facility at the Bung Karno sports stadium complex.
Two other venues - the Rowing Lake and shooting range - are located in the Jakabaring sport city in Palembang are in their final touches. -VNA
