Indonesia on Nov. 17 urged Vietnamese enterprises to invest more inthe country to boost bilateral trade to 5 billion USD by 2015, asplanned recently by the two countries.
Last year,bilateral trade amounted to 3.3 billion USD. Trade between the twocountries has a great deal of potential, as Viet Nam 's market isgrowing rapidly and Indonesia has abundant natural resources.
Indonesia , which has the world's richest biodiversity, hasencouraged Vietnamese enterprises to invest in its growing industrialsectors, including agriculture and food processing, textiles andapparel, electronics, and others.
Speaking at a seminaron Nov. 17 in HCM City , Bambang Tarsanto, the Consul General ofIndonesia, told businesspeople that they should improve the prosperityof their people by seeking more trade opportunities.
"TheIndonesian government continues to reform its bureaucracy, making itclean, transparent and accountable," he said. "This gives moreadvantages and provides more incentives for foreign investors who investin Indonesia ."
With a large population and strongpurchasing power, Indonesia is a promising market as well as a greatinvestment opportunity for Viet Nam .
It is a major market for consumer products from Viet Nam , especially rice, coffee and other food items./.
