After more than 5 years of establishing a strategic partnership, Vietnam-Italy relations is developing positively in all fields, included politics, economy, culture, education and local cooperation.

Vietnam and Italy set up diplomatic ties on March 23, 1973 The political relationship between the two countries has been strengthened and developed since the early 1990s.

Italy was the first Western European country to support enhancing the cooperation between Vietnam and the EU, and the normalisation of relations between Vietnam and financial, trade and monetary organisations.
