A delegation of Japanese enterprises, mostly operating in theagriculture and aquaculture sectors, made a fact-finding tour onApril 22 to the southwest province of Hau Giang to explore investmentand business opportunities there.
At a working session with thelocal authorities, Kohel Watanabe, head of the Japan-Mekong BusinessCooperation Committee under the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry(JCCI), praised the province’s efforts in developing its local economyin recent times, especially in agriculture.
Chairman of theprovincial People’s Committee Tran Cong Chanh introduced the Japaneseguests to potential areas of investment in the locality and itsprioritized areas.
The locality has set up trademarksfor many of its competitive farm products. It is also hastening theconstruction of a high-tech application agriculture area with a totalinvestment of over 5 trillion VND (235 million USD), which is expectedto be the largest in the Mekong River Delta.
According to the JCCI, the agency manages over 500 branches and more than 1.2 million businesses operating over the world.
Atthe working session, Japanese representatives said the province shouldpay more attention to renovating and fostering the application ofscience advances to agricultural production in order to improve thequality and added value to its farm products in the future.
Thesame day, Japanese guests visited the Song Hau Industrial Complex andthe Minh Phu Co., Ltd, which specialise in processing aquatic products.-VNA
