Quang Ninh (VNA) – A Japanese tourist was safely evacuated and rushed to hospital after suffering a stroke aboard a cruise ship off the coast of Quang Ninh province.
According to the Border Guard Station at the Hon Gai International Port, the incident occurred at 22:45 (local time) on February 8, when the Japanese vessel ASUKA II reported that passenger Kosuge Kimiko, born in 1949, had suddenly experienced a stroke and required urgent medical assistance. The ship, carrying 617 Japanese passengers and 511 crew members, was traveling from Ho Chi Minh City to Ha Long.
Upon receiving the alert, border guards quickly reported to higher authorities and dispatched a rescue team of 10 officers and soldiers. The team coordinated with Border Guard Squadron 2 and the provincial 115 Emergency Centre to approach the vessel overnight.
After reaching the ship at sea, the forces safely transported the patient ashore and transferred her to Quang Ninh General Hospital for timely emergency treatment.
