The newly-established government ofJapan will further step up its relations with Vietnam, said theJapanese Cabinet Secretary for Public Relations, Hiroshi Ogawa.
Ogawa made the remarks while receiving a delegation from the VietnamNews Agency (VNA), led by its Deputy General Director Ha Minh Hue, inTokyo on Oct. 21.
The official said the friendly ties between the two countries willcontinue to develop and the new government, led by the Democratic Partyof Japan, will further carry out infrastructure development projects inVietnam .
Hue talked to his host about the traditional cooperation between VNAand the Kyodo News Agency as well as the results of his delegation’svisit to Japan.
VNA and Kyodo have already signed an agreement to exchange informationabout their countries’ socio-economic development, he said, adding thatthe relations between the two news agencies and their reporters’activities have contributed to enhancing the relationship and mutualunderstanding between the Vietnamese and Japanese people.
Hue revealed that the Japanese version of VNA’s online VietnamPictorial has seen a large number of visitors, including Japanesereaders, thereby also helping to increase mutual understanding betweenthe two nations.
On the same day, the VNA delegation was received by Japanese DeputyMinister of Foreign Affairs Shuji Kira, who expressed delight at theconstant development of the time-honoured VNA-Kyodo cooperation as wellas the Vietnam-Japan relations of friendship and cooperation.
For his part, Deputy General Director Hue pledged to tighten VNA’scollaboration with Kyodo to beef up the relationship between the twocountries.
During his talks with Kyodo President Satoshi Ishikawa on Oct. 19, Hueand Ishikawa agreed to increase joint efforts in information, notingthat such efforts will help the two news agencies weather challengesposed by the global financial crisis and make the best of informationtechnology.
The officials shared experiences in developing and marketing multimediaproducts and promised to ramp up cooperation in personnel training.
Hue conveyed VNA General Director Tran Mai Huong’s invitation to the Kyodo President to visit Vietnam.
While in Japan, the VNA delegates met with President and CEO of thedaily newspaper Nikkei Tsuneo Kita and Vice President of the JapanBroadcasting Corporation (NHK) Yoshinori Imai.
They also paid a visit to Hiroshima - one of two Japanese citiesheavily destroyed by atomic bombs dropped by the US 64 years ago./.
