Hanoi (VNA) - Japanese retail giant Aeon Co. opened its first hypermarketin Myanmar on May 10, according to Kyodo News.
Aeon Orange Thanlyin Sakura opened in Yangon, selling home electronics,clothing and other household products in addition to foods being already offeredat its existing 14 supermarkets.
The 2,800-sq.m store is triple the size of those supermarkets. It houses aroughly 200-sq.m home appliance sales space, the largest level in the Yangonarea, while providing shoppers with financing via Aeon Microfinance (Myanmar)Co.
The new store also offers local dishes, salads and desserts at a 70-sq.m diningarea. It is planning to introduce a bakery shop at the outlet.
Aeon has opened 74 stores in SoutheastAsian nations like Cambodia, Indonesia and Vietnam.- VNA
