Lao officials appreciate Vietnam-Laos cooperation in information-communication

Vientiane (VNA) – DeputyPrime Minister and Finance Minister of Laos Somedee Duangdee has praised theeffectiveness of the cooperation between Lao ministries and agencies withVietnam’s Ministry of Information and Communication (MoIC).

During a reception for a visitingMoIC delegation led by Minister Nguyen Manh Hung in Vientiane on March 12, theLao Deputy PM thanked the Vietnamese Government and the MoIC for helping Laostrain information technology personnel and asked Vietnam to continue with thesupport.

He affirmed his backing of thepartnership between the MoIC and the Lao Ministry of Information, Culture andTourism and Ministry of Post and Telecommunication.

Minister Nguyen Manh Hungreported to the host the outcomes of the two talks between his delegation andthe two Lao ministries.

He took the occasion to seeksupport from the Lao Deputy PM for Vietnamese firms operating and investing inLaos, particularly those involved in the field of information technology.

Earlier, the MoIC delegationheld talks with officials of the Lao Ministry of Post and Telecommunication ledby Minister Thansamay Kommasith.

The two sides expressed delightat the cooperation and discussed directions for their partnership in the timeahead.

The Lao side asked for continuedassistance from Vietnam in personnel training.

Minister Hung pledged to keep upthe close cooperation with the Lao partner and asked that the two sides expandties to more fields.            

Several cooperation agreements weresigned on the occasion, including one between the MoIC and the Lao Ministry ofPost and Telecommunication, another between the Authority of InformationSecurity and the LaoCERT, and one between the Vietnam Posts and TelecommunicationGroup (VNPT) and the Lao E-Government Centre.

During their working visit fromMarch 11-13, Minister Hung and the MoIC delegation had a working session withVietnamese IT companies operating in Laos.-VNA
