Love-duet singing in school curriculum proves effective

The Northern province of BacNinh has introduced love-duet singing (Quan ho in Vietnamese) into school curriculums.

In an attempt to preserve and promote love-duet singing (Quan ho in Vietnamese), UNESCO intangible cultural heritage of humanity, the northern province of BacNinh has devised several measures, including bringing the songs into school curriculums.

After five years of implementing the programme, all students of local schools have been taught love-duet singing.

Local schools have worked with the cultural sector to organise training classes on using Quan ho teaching materials along with extracurricular activities to make the programme effective.

BacNinh is one of a few localities proactively bringing Quan ho into schools. It not only shows the province’s determination to implement commitments to UNESCO but also helps nurture younger generations’ spirit  in maintaining the heritage.-VNA
