Vietnamese test kit for COVID-19 diagnosis has met all standards defined by the World Health Organization (WHO), according to the Ministry of Science and Technology.

The WHO said in a statement that it had officially recognized the test kit made by the Vietnam Military Medical University and Viet A Company.

The kit has met all WHO standards after undergoing five rounds of testing and quality evaluation.

A kit consists of 50 tests and can be used 50 times, meeting all criteria on virus sensitivity, specificity and accuracy. The full timescale for the test kit to produce the result, either negative or positive for SARS-CoV-2, is more than 2 hours.

More than 20 countries such as Iran, Ukraine, Finland and Malaysia and enterprises have ordered the made in Vietnam COVID-19 test kits.

The WHO recognition is expected to further boost the export of the kits to the global market./.
