Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam and Mexico are witnessing the fruitful development of bilateral ties across areas for benefits of both nations, said Alberto Anaya, Secretary General of Mexico's Labour Party (PT).

Anaya made the statement on May 9 while visiting the Vietnamese Embassy in Mexico on the occasion of the 43th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties (May 19).

He stressed the two countries’ great potential for pushing their trade and economic cooperation.

The PT Secretary General praised achievements made by the Vietnamese people during the Doi moi (reform) process under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, while highlighting the impressive economic growth and increasing role of the country in the region and the world.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Mexico Nguyen Hoai Duong, for his part, affirmed that, based on the good relationship between the two countries, especially after a meeting between the two countries’ leaders on the sidelines of the APEC Summit in Da Nang last year and the two countries signed the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), their all-around relations will be deepened in a practical manner.

He took the occasion to update Mexican delegates on Vietnam’s socio-economic development and advantages for their bilateral cooperation in the future.

Representatives of Mexican enterprises who accompanied the PT Secretary General said they want to seek Vietnamese partners in the fields of tourism, textiles and garment, solar electricity and agriculture.

A delegation of Mexican entrepreneurs is scheduled to visit Vietnam in this September to explore the Southeast Asian market.

Statistics show that two-way trade between Vietnam and Mexico reached over 5 billion USD in 2017, with an average growth reaching 10 percent per year. Vietnam’s main exports to Mexico are textiles, footwear, computers, telephones and aquatic products.-VNA
