Ministry, UK agency team up on auditor training

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) and the UK ’s Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) have agreed on a joint examination scheme for professional auditors in Vietnam .

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) and the UK ’s Association of CharteredCertified Accountants (ACCA) have agreed on a joint examination schemefor professional auditors in Vietnam .

Speaking at the signing on April 18, 2012, Finance Minister Vuong DinhHue said the agreement is a piece of evidence of close cooperationbetween the two countries.

The ACCA will supportthe Ministry of Finance in providing high quality services, help trainits members, provide update professional knowledge, and ensure a highstandard of qualified members.

The ACCA alsocommitted to fully funding scholarships for MoF staff to attend ACCAcourses. This will help the country to build up a workforce ofexperienced accountants and auditors of international standard and closethe gap between Vietnam and other countries in the accounting andauditing fields.

The agreement will take effect infive years from April 18, 2012 and will replace the memorandum ofunderstanding signed on Dec. 6, 2003, extended on Jan. 12, 2009.

It marks a new phase of development after 10 years of the ACCA and theMoF pursuing their target of “internationalising” Vietnamese auditors,helping the country integrate more into the region and across the world.-VNA
