- General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee and President To Lam received Liu Ning, member of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Committee of China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, in Hanoi on August 28.
Welcoming the Guangxi delegation, the host highly valued their working visit to Vietnam, which he said will help promote border localities’ leading role in realising the latest common perceptions reached between the two Parties and countries’ leaders about further enhancing the Vietnam - China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and promoting the building of a community of shared future. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Liu Ning, member of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Committee of China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, in Hanoi on August 28, asking the Chinese side to enhance cooperation with Vietnam to boost the connectivity of transport infrastructure and soft infrastructure at border gates.
PM Chinh affirmed that the two Parties and countries attach great importance to locality-to-locality cooperation, and they support their localities, especially border ones, to advance friendship exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation. Read full story
- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has demanded efforts be ramped up to eradicate illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing while leaders of poor-performing localities be stringently handled as a European Commission (EC) delegation will come to Vietnam for the fifth inspection this October.
He made the request while chairing a meeting held on August 28 to review results of the IUU fishing combat in efforts to have the EC’s “yellow card” warning lifted. The event was connected with all the 28 coastal provinces and cities via videoconference. Read full story

- Minister of Public Security Sen. Lieut. Gen. Luong Tam Quang on August 28 had a meeting with Secretary-General of ASEAN Kao Kim Hourn in Vientiane, Laos, on August 28 on the sidelines of the 18th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime (AMMTC-18).
At the meeting, Minister Quang thanked the ASEAN chief and ASEAN Secretariat for their support for the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security in effectively implementing cooperation activities within the framework of the ASEAN multilateral mechanism on preventing and combating transnational crimes.
