- Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Tran Thanh Man received Secretary-General of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) Siti Rozaimeriyanty Dato Haji Abdul Rahman, in Hanoi on August 25.

- Typhoon Kajiki, the fifth to hit the East Sea this year, made landfall in the central provinces of Nghe An and Ha Tinh at 6 p.m on August 25, bringing maximum sustained winds of level 11 (117 km/h) and gusts reaching level 13, the National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting reported.

In the next 3 hours, the storm is forecast to move west-northwest at 10-15 km/h.

From 5:30 pm to 10:30 pm, due to the impact of the storm, torrential rains are forecast to hit six northern and central provinces, including Phu Tho, Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, and Quang Tri. Rainfall reached 80-120 mm in Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh, even over 200 mm in certain areas. Read full story

- Typhoon Kajiki disrupted air travel in central Vietnam on August 25, forcing the cancellation of 35 flights and the rerouting of 30 others, according to the Civil Defence Command under the Ministry of Construction.

Dong Hoi Airport in Quang Tri province suspended arrivals for 12 hours, from 4am to 4pm on August 25, before resuming operations. No casualties or infrastructure damage were reported. Read full story

- The Department of State Reserves has issued a dispatch to its sub-departments nationwide instructing them to remain on duty around the clock in response to Typhoon Kajiki, the fifth storm arising in the East Sea so far this year.

The dispatch asked for round-the-clock duty shifts and constant monitoring of storm developments to ensure timely preventive measures against heavy rain and flooding. Read full story

- Malaysia’s Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation announced on August 25 that the country is advancing deeper integration under the ASEAN Power Grid Initiative, aiming to strengthen energy resilience and open up opportunities for cross-border electricity trade.

Speaking before Parliament, Deputy Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir highlighted Vietnam’s strong wind power potential, stressing that if connected through the regional grid, this energy source could bring significant benefits to Malaysia. Read full story

- People across Laos are being urged to prepare for the potential impacts of Typhoon Kajiki, the 13th typhoon of the year, which is forecast to bring widespread thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and strong winds across the country.

The typhoon continues to intensify as it moves over the East Sea toward Vietnam, the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology under the Lao Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment said on August 25./. Read full story

Two military officers promoted to rank of Senior Lieutenant General
