– Party General Secretary To Lam hosted a reception in Hanoi on June 26 for newly appointed Australian Ambassador Gillian Bird, during which he expressed his belief that the diplomat, with her extensive experience and deep understanding of the region, would make significant contributions to advancing the Vietnam – Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

– State President Luong Cuong has requested the Presidential Office to uphold a strong sense of responsibility, solidarity, and close coordination with agencies, ministries, sectors, and localities to effectively advise the President and Vice President in implementing established programmes and plans to propel the country to a new era – the era of the nation’s rise.

At a working session with the office on June 26, President Cuong acknowledged and praised the office’s advisory role in facilitating the state leaders’ decisions for timely recognition of standout collectives and individuals at important events, supporting rewards for organisational restructuring and streamlining of the political apparatus, and implementing the two-tier local administration model. – National Assembly (NA) Chairman Tran Thanh Man attended an award ceremony for a nationwide songwriting campaign dedicated to the NA and People’s Councils in Hanoi on June 26, part of the activities in the lead-up to the 80th anniversary of the country’s first general election (January 6, 1946).

The songwriting campaign attracted 672 entries from nearly 400 composers nationwide, showcasing widespread public engagement and artistic enthusiasm. Read full story

– Vietnam's National Assembly on June 26 afternoon approved the Law on Participation in United Nations (UN) Peacekeeping Operations, with all 445 deputies present voting in favour.

The law, comprised of five chapters and 27 articles, will take effect on January 1, 2026. Read full story

– Lawmakers adopted resolutions on agricultural land tax exemption, tuition exemption for preschool and general students in the national education system, and universal preschool education for children aged 3-5, at their sitting on June 26 as part of the 9th session of the 15th National Assembly (NA).

The resolution on tuition exemption and support in the national education system was approved with 440 out of 441 deputies present voting in favour. It takes effect from the date of its adoption and will be applied starting from the 2025–2026 academic year. Read full story

– Vietnam welcomes the ceasefire agreement reached between Israel and Iran on June 24, according to spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pham Thu Hang.
