- People-to-people diplomacy should be regarded as a strategic pillar of comprehensive and modern diplomacy and a key component of the national development and defence strategy, Politburo member and standing member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat Tran Cam Tu has stated.
Addressing a conference held in Hanoi on December 30 by the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to review people-to-people diplomacy in 2025 and outline orientations and tasks for 2026, Tu highlighted the significant achievements and contributions of people-to-people diplomacy throughout the country’s revolutionary process, under the Party’s sound leadership and guided by Ho Chi Minh’s thought on combining national strength with the strength of the times. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has called on young people working in Government agencies to strengthen unity to build collective strength, enhance cooperation for shared benefits, and promote dialogue and sharing to reinforce trust, while fostering empathy and solidarity, especially with people in disadvantaged areas and vulnerable groups.

- Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has asked for honest reporting and result-oriented efforts in the combat against illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, with the dual aim of having the European Commission (EC)’s “yellow card” warning against Vietnamese seafood lifted and promoting a sustainable and responsible fisheries industry.
He made the request while chairing the 28th weekly meeting of the national steering committee for combating IUU fishing with representatives of 22 coastal provinces and cities on December 30. Read full story

- Politburo member and Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly (NA) Do Van Chien, Head of the Organising Committee for the 80th anniversary of Vietnam’s first general election to the NA, chaired a meeting in Hanoi on December 30 to finalise preparations for the commemoration, scheduled to take place on January 6, 2026.
Addressing the meeting, Chien stressed that all preparatory work must be carried out with urgency and solemnity. - The Standing Board of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee of Hanoi has proposed allocating 5.28 billion VND (about 201,000 USD) to present 5,280 gift packages to near-poor households and those in special difficult circumstances across the city on the occasion of the Lunar New Year (Tet) 2026.
The funding is expected to come from the municipal “For the Poor” Fund, under which each ward will receive 30 gift packages and each commune 50 packages, with each package valued at 1 million VND./. Read full story
