Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) on December 30 held conferences to review Party work in 2025, assess professional activities, and emulation movements for the year, and roll out tasks for 2026.

Addressing the conferences, Vu Viet Trang, a member of the Government Party Committee, Secretary of the VNA Party Committee, and VNA General Director, commended reporters, editors, technicians and employees at home and abroad for their unity and efforts in overcoming difficulties and fulfilling assigned tasks amid unprecedented changes.

In 2025, the VNA simultaneously conducted a review of the Politburo’s Resolution No.18-NQ/TW on streamlining organisational structures, while formulating and implementing the Government’s Decree No.27/2025/ND-CP defining its functions, tasks, powers and organisational structure. These efforts further reaffirmed the agency’s role as a strategic advisory body to the Party and State in the new period, she noted.

Entering 2026, Trang stressed the need for the entire sector to focus on key tasks, fully promoting the VNA’s role as the national news agency and a leading press organisation. She highlighted the importance of improving the quality of strategic advisory work, strengthening public opinion guidance, thus contributing to consolidating public trust and social consensus around the Party’s guidelines, policies and decisions.

In the immediate term, the agency is to perform well its information and communications tasks relating to the 14th National Party Congress, the election of the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2026-2031 term, as well as the implementation of resolutions adopted at the 14th congress.

She called on the agency to continue restructuring its internal organisation to ensure it remains streamlined, efficient and effective, in line with the new organisational model and the country’s development requirements. The VNA will also continue to substantively implement assigned schemes and projects under Resolution No.57-NQ/TW; build a national multimedia information and photo archive database; and organise regular cyber security drills to strengthen information safety for operational systems.

Regarding the Party work, the General Director stressed the need for strong innovation in political and ideological education, and for further promoting the study and practice of Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, ethics and style, among other tasks.

At the event, Trang launched the sector-wide emulation movement for 2026.

On this occasion, the VNA presented emulation flags, the title of emulation fighter and certificates of merit from the VNA General Director to collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements over the past year.

Its information, documentation and graphics centre produced 4,259 infographics, including 245 interactive ones, while the digital content and communications centre made 20,365 video news products.

In addition, the agency rolled out prominent information campaigns covering major commemorative events and developed a number of new information products, while winning numerous top prizes at the national press festival and at national journalism awards organised by ministries, sectors and localities. Notably, for the first time, it won two first prizes – in the photo reportage and written article categories – at the 2024 awards of the Organisation of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA).

The 27th Congress of the VNA Party Organisation for the 2025-2030 term was held on July 16-17, electing a 27-member Party Committee for the new term./.
