- The completion and commissioning of the National Data Centre No.1 have laid an important foundation for the country’s data infrastructure and will make a significant contribution to accelerating national digital transformation in the coming period, Party General Secretary To Lam said during a working visit to the facility at Hanoi's Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park on December 29.
As reported at the event, the centre – the first specialised unit directly under the Ministry of Public Security tasked with state management and coordination of data – was officially launched on February 25, and inaugurated on August 18. - State President Luong Cuong on December 29 received outgoing Cambodian Ambassador to Vietnam Chea Kimtha, during which he hailed her significant contributions to consolidating and developing the traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
Expressing delight at Cambodia’s important achievements in national building and development in recent years, President Cuong expressed confidence that under the wise reign of King Norodom Sihamoni and the leadership of the Cambodian People’s Party, as well as the Cambodian State and Government, Cambodia will continue to attain even greater and more comprehensive successes toward peace, stability and prosperous development. - Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Head of the Government Steering Committee for Macroeconomic Management and Administration, chaired the committee’s first meeting in Hanoi on December 29.
At the meeting, the steering committee assessed that the 2021-2025 term faced more difficulties and challenges than opportunities and favourable conditions. In particular, 2025 was described as an exceptionally challenging year, marked by sharp fluctuations in the global economy, escalating geopolitical conflicts and supply chain disruptions in many regions. - Vietnam’s National Assembly has consistently identified active and responsible participation in the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) activities as one of its key priorities, said NA Vice Chairman Tran Quang Phuong.
At a reception for IPU Secretary-General Martin Chungong in Hanoi on December 29, Phuong called for further attention and support from the Secretary-General and the IPU Secretariat to strengthen effective and trusted ties between the IPU and the Vietnamese legislature, thereby making practical contributions to shared objectives. - Credit growth in Vietnam reached nearly 18% in 2025, reflecting the State Bank of Vietnam’s (SBV) flexible and proactive monetary management aimed at supporting economic growth while keeping inflation under control.
At a press conference on banking sector performance in 2025 and tasks for 2026, held in Hanoi on December 29, SBV Deputy Governor Pham Thanh Ha said that as of December 24, 2025, total outstanding credit to the economy exceeded 18.4 quadrillion VND (about 670 billion USD), up 17.87% compared to the end of 2024.
