Fourteen new laws, one ordinance made public

The Presidential Office held a press conference on December 31 to announce the State President’s order promulgating 14 laws and one ordinance adopted by the 15th-tenure National Assembly and its Standing Committee.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Presidential Office held a press conference on December 31 to announce the State President’s order promulgating 14 laws and one ordinance adopted by the 15th-tenure National Assembly and its Standing Committee.

The legal documents include the Law on Cyber Security, the Law on Transfer of Persons Serving Prison Sentences, the Law on Extradition, the Law on Drug Prevention and Control, the law revising provisions of 10 laws relating to security and order, the Law on Enforcement of Criminal Judgements, the Law on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters, the Law on Enforcement of Custody, Temporary Detention and Travel Bans, and the Law amending and supplementing several provisions of the Law on Judicial Records. All will take effect on July 1, 2026.

Also in the list are the Law on Protection of State Secrets and the Law on Oversight Activities of the National Assembly and People’s Councils, both of which will take effect on March 1, 2026.

Meanwhile, the Law on Public Employees, the Law amending and supplementing several provisions of the Law on Defence and Security Industry and Industrial Mobilisation, and the Law on the State of Emergency, will come into force on July 1, 2026.

The Ordinance amending provisions of the Ordinance on Environmental Police will enter into force on December 15, 2025./.

Major laws to take effect on January 1, 2026

A series of major laws passed in 2025 will take effect on January 1, 2026, spanning employment, education, data protection, taxation, state budget, digital technology, energy, and transport.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested Party committees, authorities, agencies and units at all levels to nurture and create favourable conditions for young union members to develop comprehensively, entrust them with responsibilities, provide opportunities for contribution and maturity, and effectively implement the Vietnam Youth Development Strategy for the 2021–2030 period.
