NA adopts resolution on 2017 State budget balance

The National Assembly passed the Resolution on State budget balance for 2017 with 91.53 percent of approval at the ongoing seventh session of the 14th legislature in Hanoi on June 11.

Hanoi (VNA) –
The National Assemblypassed the Resolution on 2017 State budget balance with an approval rate of 91.53 percent of votes at the ongoing seventh session of the 14th legislature in Hanoi onJune 11.

According to the resolution, the total Statebudget collection surpassed 1.683 quadrillion VND (72.1 billion USD), while thetotal State budget spending was estimated at more than 1.681 quadrillion VND.

The State budget overspending was over 136.9 trillionVND (5.87 billion USD), or 2.74 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP).

Chairman of the NA’s Committee on Finance andBudget Nguyen Duc Hai reported that in the 2017 fiscal year, the Governmentdirected ministries, departments and localities to take measures to tightenfinancial and budget discipline and handle violations.

However, wrong-purpose spending still existswhile the implementation of budget spending tasks by some ministries,centrally-run agencies and localities remains slow, he noted.

The NA assigned the Government to direct ministries,centrally-run agencies and localities to address shortcomings in theallocation, use and management of public investment projects, and handle basicconstruction debts ahead of December 31, 2014.

Promoting thrifty practices and preventingwastefulness and corruption as well as strictly handling violating individualsand organisations in the management and use of the State budget are a must,according to the resolution.-VNA

NA Standing Committee's key work agenda for 2026 approved
