National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung separately received Lao andJapanese ambassadors to Vietnam Somphon Synchaleun and Yasuaki Tanizakiin Hanoi on Oct. 19.
In his meeting with the Lao Ambassador,Chairman Hung highlighted the cooperation between the two NationalAssemblies of Vietnam and Laos and affirmed his intention to promotethe bilateral cooperation.
He urged the two countries’ relevantagencies to join efforts to organise events to mark the 50 thanniversary of Vietnam-Laos friendship.
Ambassador SomphonSynchaleun said the Lao Party and State are preparing for celebrationsof the 50 th anniversary of the Vietnam-Laos diplomatic ties in 2012,contributing to maintaining and promoting special sentiment between thetwo nations.
The diplomat said he considers Vietnam as hissecond homeland and will spare no effort to contribute to bringing theLaos-Vietnam traditional friendship, special solidarity andcomprehensive cooperation to a new height.
In another meetingwith Japanese Ambassador Yasuaki Tanizaki, Chairman Hung said hebelieved the ambassador will make contributions to boosting theVietnam-Japan strategic partnership during his term of office inVietnam .
He highly valued the Japanese Government’s continuedprovision of official development assistance (ODA) to Vietnam ,focusing on infrastructure development, human resource development,development of supporting industries, environmental protection andclimate change resilience.
The Chairman expressed his sympathy tothe Japanese people over heavy losses caused by the earthquake andtsunami in March, believing that the Japanese people will overcomedifficulties and resume stability and allow the country to continuedeveloping.
He urged the two countries to expand cooperation infields such as defence and security, and exploitation of sea and islandresources for peace and stability in the region and the world.
ChairmanHung noted the cooperation in construction of a nuclear power plant andexpress railway, and rare earth exploitation, asking the two sides toseek solutions in the spirit of ensuring safety and efficiency.
Hespoke highly of efforts to solve the incident at the Fukushima 1nuclear power plant in Japan and said that this is a major lesson incooperation between the two countries in the field.
The NAChairman emphasised the importance of cooperation between the twoparliaments, urging the two sides to promote cooperative relations inthe years to come.
Ambassador Yasuaki Tanizaki affirmed thatJapan will support Vietnam in its process of becoming anindustrialised nation by 2020.
Japan always maintains itsviewpoint of attaching importance to cooperation with Vietnam ,including cooperation between the two parliaments.
The Ambassadorsaid Japan wants to cooperate with Vietnam in nuclear power andis willing to share experience in the field.
Japan InternationalCooperation Agency (JICA) is conducting a pre-feasibility study on theexpress railway project and will submit it to the National Assembly andthe Government for consideration and selection, he said./.
