National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan received Rabea Brauer, Director of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Institute, in Hanoi on Nov. 3.
At the reception, Ngan said she is pleased with the positive, intensive and comprehensive development of the traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between Vietnam and Germany over the past time.
Chancellor Angela Merkel’s recent visit to Vietnam marked a new milestone in the bilateral ties with the signing of the Hanoi Joint Statement on the official establishment of the Vietnam-Germany Strategic Partnership, she noted.
Besides strong trade and investment ties, the two countries have continuously strengthened cooperation in the legal and judicial sector through the exchange of experience and cooperation in promoting capacity.
Applauding KAS’s coordinating role in the Vietnam-Germany Programme on Legal and Judicial Cooperation in the 2009-2011 period, the NA Vice Chairwoman suggested the two sides soon define cooperation programmes for the 2012-2014 period.
She expressed her wish that KAS will continue its assistance for the Vietnamese NA and affirmed that the Vietnamese NA is ready to support and participate in cooperation programmes between the two countries.
The KAS Director informed the host about the institute’s cooperation plans with Vietnam in the 2012-2014 period, focusing on organising study trips and seminars and granting scholarships.
In 2012, KAS will give priority to improving the capacity of Vietnamese NA deputies and implementing a project to strengthen cooperation between the two countries’ parliaments and peoples, he added.
With its headquarters in Bonn city and 70 representative offices in 120 countries, KAS supports dialogues on foreign and security policies as well as exchanges between cultures and regions in the world.
