National conference East Sea focuses on scientific-technological cooperation

International participants shared insights into the application of scientific and technological advances in four key areas - protecting marine biodiversity beyond national jurisdiction; balancing production and biodiversity in coastal aquaculture and conservation; leveraging big maritime data for spatial management and eco-tourism development; and safeguarding seabed infrastructure.

Da Nang (VNA) - A national conference on the East Sea was held in the central city of Da Nang on November 5, focusing on scientific and technological cooperation as a driving force for green and sustainable development.

The conference, held on the sidelines of the 17th international conference on the East Sea, brought together a large number of domestic and international experts and scholars, alongside representatives from ministries, localities, research institutions, universities, professional associations, and diplomatic missions in Vietnam.

It aimed to foster knowledge exchange, share development experiences, and promote international cooperation in marine science and technology.

International participants from Indonesia, the Republic of Korea, Taiwan (China), and India shared insights into the application of scientific and technological advances in four key areas - protecting marine biodiversity beyond national jurisdiction; balancing production and biodiversity in coastal aquaculture and conservation; leveraging big maritime data for spatial management and eco-tourism development; and safeguarding seabed infrastructure.

Delegates discussed the need to strengthen scientific and technological cooperation to promote sustainable marine development and advance “technology diplomacy.”

They also emphasised enhancing the role of the diplomatic sector in supporting ministries, agencies, localities, and enterprises in effectively implementing the Politburo's Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on the development of science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation, as well as Resolution No. 59-NQ/TW on international integration in the new context./.

Da Nang tightens fishing vessel management to have EC's IUU yellow card lifted

Under the official dispatch, commune and ward-level authorities must closely monitor every non-compliant fishing vessel within their jurisdiction. Vessel owners are prohibited from taking their boats to sea without complete legal documents and are required to remove all fishing gear and equipment from vessels that are not eligible to operate.
