Vietnam’s National Fire Brigades Dispatch Centre, partly funded through the Austrian Government’s official development assistance, was inaugurated in Hanoi on October 20.

The centre is under the management of the Ministry of Public Security’s Fire and Rescue Police Department, the Quan doi Nhan dan (People’s Army) daily reported.

It brings the number of similar facilities owned by the fire and rescue police force to five. The four others are in Hai Phong, Da Nang, Binh Duong province and Ho Chi Minh City.

During nine months of pilot operations, the dispatch centres dealt with 1,927 emergency calls, 7,253 fires and 2,449 rescue cases.

The pilot operations helped improve the Vietnamese police’s firefighting steering capacity and access to advanced technology.-VNA
