Bac Kan (VNA) – Twenty-five families of the Mong ethnic minority group in Ta Han hamlet in Cho Don district in the northern mountainous province of Bac Kan have found a new lease on life, now happily settling in a brand-new resettlement area, thanks to the swift response from the Ministry of National Defence.
The evacuation was prompted by the alarming sight of numerous cracks in their houses - an aftermath of Super Typhoon Yagi, which struck the country in early September.
Understanding the urgency, the Ministry of National Defence, in collaboration with the provincial People's Committee, sprang into action.
After 50 days and nights of intensive construction, the Ta Han resettlement area, with 25 new houses, was inaugurated and handed over to the Mong ethnic families.
Each house, spanning about 120 sq.m, features three main rooms and a kitchen, all fitted with insulated metal roofing, brick walls and ceramic-tiled floors. Not only do these houses meet rural mountain housing standards, but they also come equipped with essential utilities like electricity, water and road access.
Dao Van Cua, one of the new home owners, shared his overwhelming joy. "I'm so thankful. My family was given not just a house but also all the essentials - wardrobes, tables, and even bedding!".
Vua A Ngay, head of Ta Han hamlet, noted that all the beneficiaries were either poor or near-poor.
"Our gratitude goes out to the Party, State, local authorities, and especially the Ministry of National Defence, its officers and soldiers", he said. "This support has offered renewed hope as we welcome the new year"./.
