Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam Airlines has announced that it will operate its first commercial flight from Terminal T3 of Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on April 17.

From April 17, flights on the HCM City – Van Don (Quang Ninh province) route of Vietnam Airlines will be operated at the new terminal. A representative of the national flag carrier noted that this marks the first step in its plan to gradually move its domestic flights to Terminal T3, aiming to offer passengers a more convenient, faster, and comfortable experience.

The Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) said that by the end of April, all domestic flights of Vietnam Airlines will officially operate at this new terminal, except for the ones linking HCM City with Con Dao, Ca Mau, and Rach Gia, which continue to depart from/land at Terminal T1.

Vietjet Air is also scheduled to relocate its domestic flights to Terminal T3 at a later time.

The ACV has provided traffic guidance for accessing Terminal T3 as the new terminal is located separately from Terminals T1 and T2.

With a total investment of nearly 11 trillion VND (nearly 425 million USD), Terminal T3 is one of the key transport projects completed in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and national reunification.

Designed to handle 20 million passengers per year, the project comprises four main components: the passenger terminal, a multi-story parking facility integrated with non-aviation services, the terminal frontage elevated road system, and aircraft aprons. It is expected to help ease pressure on Terminal T1 of Tan Son Nhat Airport as well as Long Thanh Airport, which is under construction in nearby Dong Nai province./.
