Old French-style villas in capital to be examined for preservation

More than 1,200 French-style villas in Hanoi constructed before 1954 will be examined to evaluate their states, values and need for preservation by the municipal People’s Committee.

Hanoi (VNS/VNA) - More than 1,200 French-style villas in Hanoi constructedbefore 1954 will be examined to evaluate their states, values and need forpreservation by the municipal People’s Committee.

The city People's Council has requested the municipal People's Committee todirect the review and report on the status of the old villas and architecturalworks that were built before 1954 in the city.

The report must specify the number, addresses, current status, ownership andclassification of the buildings, in addition to proposals of the managementsolutions in the future and the lists of old villas and architectural works inneed of being maintained, renovated, embellished and preserved in 2021-2025.

The municipal People’s Committee issued a list of 1,253 villas subject tomanagement and use according to the regulations on management and use of oldvillas built before 1954 in Hanoi at the end of 2013.

In this list, there were 352 state-owned villas, 100 owned by organisations,301 privately-owned villas and 500 villas of mixed ownership.

The old villas are mainly concentrated in five districts including Ba Dinh (428villas), Hoan Kiem (527 villas), Hai Ba Trung (270 villas), Tay Ho (14 villas)and Dong Da (14 villas).

Officials plan to update and reissue the list of villas and architectural worksbuilt before 1954 for more effective management and use.

In addition, the city also needs to review the management and maintenance ofparks and flower gardens in the city to propose solutions for investment andpost-investment management./.

Vietnam drawn with hosts Thailand at ASEAN Futsal Championship 2026

The ASEAN Futsal Championship 2026 is scheduled to take place from April 5 to 11 at the Nonthaburi Provincial Gymnasium in Thailand. The group stage matches will run from April 5 to 7, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals on April 9. The final is set for April 11.

Tam Chuc complex in Ninh Binh granted special national relic status

Ninh Binh will work closely with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, experts, businesses and local communities to ensure sustainable preservation and restoration of the complex. The province also plans to gradually prepare a nomination dossier for “Tam Chuc Complex – Van Long Wetland Nature Reserve” to seek UNESCO World Heritage recognition.
