Olympiad winners, excellent students honoured

Fifty international Olympiad medallists and students who achieved the best results in the 2014 university entrance exam were honoured at a ceremony in Hanoi on November 3.
Fifty international Olympiad medallists and students who achieved thebest results in the 2014 university entrance exam were honoured at aceremony in Hanoi on November 3.

Over the past two years, allVietnamese representatives at regional and international Olympiadcontests have brought home glory. This year, they won 12 golds and 21silvers, said Minister of Education and Training Pham Vu Luan.

The Prime Minister awarded certificates of merit to 11 Olympiad gold medal winners.

Other prize-winners and the 10 students with the best scores among 1million high school graduates sitting for the university entrance thisyear were granted certificates of merit by the Ministry of Education andTraining.

All the students also received rewards from the ministry and several donors.

President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee NguyenThien Nhan took the podium and told the audience that based onnation-wide support, the process of overhauling education-trainingradically and thoroughly is sure to be a success.

He urged thestudents to make further efforts, well equipping themselves forprofessional careers in the future and contributing to the nation.-VNA
