Bangkok (VNA) – Ousted Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin said on August 14 that he respects a court ruling that removed him from office.
He told the press after the Constitutional Court ruling that for the almost one year in the role, he has tried with good intentions to lead the country with honesty, adding he was unsure whether the next government will continue with his policies.
Deputy PM Phumtham Wechayachai will serve as acting prime minister until a new premier can be selected by the House of Representatives. If he is unable to assume the caretaker role, Deputy PM Suriya Juangroongruangkit will take over.
Earlier, the Constitutional Court dismissed Srettha for "grossly" violating ethics for appointing ex-convict Pichit Chuenban as a cabinet minister. He becomes the fourth PM in 16 years to be removed by the court./.
