Over 100 Vietnamese to attend global youth festival in Russia

A delegation of 116 outstanding young Vietnamese will take part in the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students (WFYS) in Sochi, Russia, from October 14 to 22.

Hanoi (VNA) – A delegation of 116 outstanding young Vietnamese will takepart in the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students (WFYS) in Sochi, Russia, from October 14 to22.

The information was released at a press conference organisedby the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU)’s Central Committee in Hanoi onOctober 11.

President ofthe Vietnam Youth Federation Nguyen Phi Long stressed the presence of thedelegation at the event will help promote the Vietnamese land and people,introduce the HCYU and the role of Vietnamese youth in national growth, andstrengthen solidarity between young Vietnamese and their international peers.

Theparticipation consolidates Vietnam’s position and contributions to global youthmovements for peace, democracy and social development, said Long.

The HCYU canalso take advantage of the fair to boost cooperation with Russian partners incontribution to Vietnam – Russia relations, he added.

At the 19th WFYS, Vietnam is set to make speeches and join discussion sessions on awide range of subjects, including the outcomes of the Russian OctoberRevolution, and the roles of younger generation in labour, science-technology,culture, and education.

The delegation will run an exhibition and a friendship stallto promote Vietnamese history, socio-economic development and cuisine.

The Vietnamese delegates will also hold separate meetingswith different youth organisations and join musical – sport exchanges at thefestival.

The WFYS, first held in 1947, is expected to bringtogether 20,000 youths from more than 150 countries to this October’s event.-VNA

Over 1.2 million students begin national high school graduation exam

Under the current examination format, candidates are required to complete the mandatory Literature and Mathematics tests, along with a combined test comprising two subjects selected from a range of options, including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, Foreign Languages, History, Geography, Technology-Industry, Technology-Agriculture, and Economics-Law. Students may also choose to take a foreign language different from the one studied at school.
