Overseas Vietnamese commemorate President Ho Chi Minh

Various activities have been held by overseas Vietnamese over the past few days to celebrate the 131st birth anniversary of late President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - 2021).

Hanoi (VNA) – Various activities havebeen held by overseas Vietnamese over the past few days to celebrate the 131stbirth anniversary of late President Ho Chi Minh (May 19, 1890 - 2021).

In Mozambique, Vietnamese Ambassador Le HuyHoang, staff of the Vietnamese Embassy, representatives of the Movitel telecomscompany and other Vietnamese businesses, along with many Vietnamese working inMaputo city attended a ceremony in commemoration of the late leader at theembassy’s headquarters on May 18.

Hoang highlighted the key milestones inPresident Ho Chi Minh’s revolutionary career as well as his enormousdedications to the country and the liberation movements in Africa and around theworld.

The diplomat called on the Vietnamese communityto make unceasing efforts to study and follow the President’s moral example andcontribute to the Vietnam - Mozambique relations.

He also informed the expatriates about thesituation in the homeland, the success of the 13th National Party Congress, andthe preparations for the elections of deputies to the 15th National Assemblyand all-level People’s Councils on May 23.

Given complex COVID-19 developments inMozambique, Hoang appealed to the community to adopt the disease prevention andcontrol measures regulated by local authorities while staying united to weatherdifficulties.

A flower-laying ceremony was also held on Ho ChiMinh Avenue to pay tribute to the leader, who passed away in 1969.

In 1977, Samora Machel, the first president ofthe People’s Republic of Mozambique, now the Republic of Mozambique, named anover-1km-long road in Maputo capital Ho Chi Minh to express the Mozambicanpeople’s respect and admiration for the Vietnamese leader.

In Hong Kong, the Party cells of the ConsulateGeneral and other representative agencies of Vietnam on May 18 visited the TaiKwun relic site, which included Victoria Prison where Ho Chi Minh was detained fromJune 1931 to January 1933, during the time of his revolutionary activities inthe special administrative region of China.

The activity aimed to help participants learnmore about the leader’s life and career while staying in Hong Kong, where theCommunist Party of Vietnam was established in 1930, to conduct revolutionaryactivities./.

Two wanted for abusing religious cover to undermine national unity policy

The fugitives are Di (also known as Siu Di), born in 1941, and Dinh Yum (also known as Dinh Jum or Ba Koih), born in 1963, from Ba Na ethnic minority group in Gia Lai province, and hold Vietnamese nationality. They have been charged under Clause 1, Article 116 of the Penal Code for undermining the national unity policy.

Support delivered to Khmer households for traditional New Year

The province's delegation of National Assembly deputies, in coordination with relevant agencies, presented 600 gifts across 11 communes, including 100 in Tap Son commune and 50 in each of the others. The programme, worth 300 million VND (11,300 USD), was funded by Agribank’s Vinh Long branch.
